How To Make Sauteed Whole Mushrooms With Garlic
One: I prefer to clean the mushrooms with a wet kitchen towel before I cook them. Then add butter and olive oil in a large skillet in a single layer over medium-high heat.
Two: Once the butter melts, add the minced garlic, mushrooms, salt, black pepper and thyme then saute for about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Three: When the mushroom fully cooked and has that beautiful golden brown colour turn off the heat. After that pour the lemon juice over it and garnish with some thyme or chopped fresh parsley. Finally serve.
Top Tips!
- Use any kind of mushroom you like Portobello, Oyster or White button.
- For best results, don't rinse the mushrooms. If you rinse them, they will absorb water and release it while cooking, resulting in a bad texture to the dish.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
- Select fresh mushrooms that are firm but not dry.
Which Mushroom Size Should I use?
Actually, it doesn't matter which size you use. I prefer to use a medium to small size in this recipe. If you use bigger size mushrooms, you may need to slice them; to cook well and mix them nicely with the garlic and spices.
How To Use These
Use this simple side dish as a pizza topping, such as in Spinach Mushroom Pizza. Use it as a main dish with sides such as Roasted Green Beans and Carrots, Buttered Peas or Seaweed Rice Balls. It is also wonderful to serve as a Holiday side dish. You can also slice them and use as a burger topping.
How To Serve
Mushrooms can be served with anything; because they are so tasty and flavourful, I like to eat them with no additions. Here are some ideas on what you may serve these simple sauteed mushrooms:
Serve them with steak, such as Garlic Butter Rib Eye Steak or Steaks With Mushroom Gravy.
With pasta, such as Chicken Arrabbiata Pasta, Sesame Peanut Noodles or Marmite Pasta.
With rice, such as Turmeric Rice, Mushroom Fried Rice or Cajun Rice Dressing.
