Green Beans With Parmesan
I've cooked fresh green beans in several ways. This recipe is my go-to easy side dish with most of my chicken and beef dishes. It is so simple, easy, and delicious, and all my family love it.
The combination of garlic, butter and parmesan cheese gives an excellent taste to the green beans. Also, drizzling with lemon juice makes the beans even more delicious.
I really like the texture and vibrant color of the green beans cooked this way.
Green Beans With Parmesan Cheese Ingredients
- Parmesan cheese: I grate it myself.
- Green beans: I highly recommend using fresh green beans in making this recipe.
- Butter: Butter is my favorite, however you can use olive oil instead.
- Salt and ground black pepper: To taste.
- Garlic: To flavor the green beans.
- Lemon Juice: For extra flavor.

How To Cook Green Beans With Parmesan Cheese
One: Wash the green beans with water, and then remove the stem end then cut into them to bite-size pieces or whatever size you prefer.
Two: Over medium heat, put the beans in a pot and cover it with water. Then bring it to boil, cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Three: After that, take the beans out of the water and drain them well.
Four: In a skillet, add the butter, garlic to the beans over medium heat.
Five: Add the lemon juice, salt and black pepper, stir. Finally, add the parmesan then get the skillet off the heat.
Cooking Green Beans Without Boiling
You can saute the green beans in a pan without boiling them first. However, it will take much longer time to cook. Also, I recommend cooking on low heat for not burning the garlic or the green beans.
Using Frozen Beans
This recipe calls for fresh green beans. If you use frozen green beans, you don't need to boil them first. Just go ahead and skip the boiling part. However, you need to thaw them out and drain well before using them.
Tips and Variations
- Don’t overcook the green beans in the boiling water for just 2-3 minutes is enough.
- For best results, dry the green beans very well before sauteing them.
- Replace Parmesan with cheddar cheese.
- Add some fresh herbs for extra flavor, such as parsley, thyme or basil.
Other Topping Options
Top your green peans with Pangrattato (homemade garlic butter breadcrumbs) or Caramelized Mushrooms And Onions.
You can also crumble some feta cheese on top or just top with Cilantro Garlic Sauce.
