This easy Pizza Dough with Plain Flour boasts an undeniably good thick and firm texture that you can excellently use as the base for any of your favorite homemade pizzas.
In a mixing bowl, mix together plain flour, salt, sugar and dried yeast.
1 ½ cups Plain Flour, ½ teaspoon Salt, 1 ½ tablespoon Fast Action Dried Yeast, 1 teaspoon Granulated Sugar
Mix in olive oil and water until bringing the dough together.
2 tablespoon Olive Oil, ½ cup Lukewarm Water
Now, knead the dough for 1-2 minutes on a clean and lightly floured work surface.
Put the dough back in the bowl and cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rest for 35-45 minutes in a warm place.
Now, put the dough in a ziplock bag and keep it in the fridge for later use.
You can also top it with your favourit sauce and toppings, then bake in the oven for 9-10 minutes at 220°c/428°f.
Notes
Add a small amount of tepid or lukewarm water in combining the dry ingredients. This will help activate the dried yeast well.
Make this pizza dough three days ahead of time before you use it for your homemade pizza. Just place it in a ziplock before you refrigerate it. This process will allow for a better flavor and browning since the dried yeast will still be at work.
Make sure that this pizza dough is at room temperature once you start using it for your homemade pizza! Cold pizza dough will break into different pieces once baked.
This recipe makes a large 30 cm pizza or 2 small 18 cm pizzas, and also, you can easily double or triple the ingredients to make more pizzas.
Be mindful of the number of ingredients needed for this recipe. Adding too much flour and yeast will significantly worsen the state of your pizza dough, and too much olive oil will make the crust too soft for the structure to hold the toppings and sauce.
Variations
If you are already going to use your pizza dough, dust it first with cornmeal, as it will give the crust an extra flavor and crispiness once the baking is done.
Use caster sugar instead of granulated sugar if the latter is unavailable in your pantry. It will still give your pizza dough crisp and tender crumbs once baked.
