Traditional Farmhouse Fruit Cake Recipe
This traditional farmhouse fruit cake or spiced cake it is soft, fluffy and easy to make. It is perfect for everyday's cake made with dried fruit and spiced perfectly with cinnamon and mixed herbs.

plain flour

Instructions
Whisk the egg well using an electric whisk. After that, add the sugar and continue whisking.
Add the butter, whisk.
Sift the flour, mixed herbs, ground cinnamon and baking powder over the egg mixture and whisk.
Add the raisin, black currant and almond then mix using a spatula or a whisk.
Grease a 22 cm baking dish (I used springform)well with butter. Then pour the batter in the baking dish.
Bake at 170 C for 45 minutes or until fully baked.
Let the cake cool down then sprinkle the powdered sugar over the top.
Notes
If you want your cake to be nut-free, skip adding flaked almonds.
Mixed herbs give the cake a lovely flavour; don't skip adding them. However, if you can't find them, you can replace them with dried ginger or nutmeg.
Use eggs at room temperature.
You may use half of the amount of butter and half vegetable oil.
Add any dried fruits you like, such as apricot, dates or sultana. However, don't use them as a whole; chop them into small chunks.
