I love these candied lemon slices so much; sometimes I just put one in my tea instead of sugar, it makes the tea so good. I even dip the slices in chocolate and eat them as a sweet treat. They are so pleasant to look at and delicious to eat.

To make these Candied lemon slices, I first have to thin slice the lemons, cook them in sugar, and then dry them out. Don't worry; this process of candied lemons is super quick and easy.

You can use them to decorate any dessert or enjoy them as a sweet snack.

How do you make Candied Lemon Slices for cake decorating?

    slice the lemons
    making the recipe
    • Cut the lemons into ⅛-inch thickness.
    • In a saucepan, add water and sugar on medium-low heat until the sugar is fully dissolved.
    • Add lemon slices and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the lemon slices become slightly translucent (try to keep the lemon slices in one layer).
    • Turn off the heat and place the lemon slices on a single layer on a wire rack.
    • Let the lemon slices cool down for about 1-2 hours. Then cover them and put them in the fridge.

    Top Tips

    • You need to slice the lemon as thin as possible. You can either use a mandoline or a sharp knife. If the lemon slices are too thick, they will take too much time to cook.
    • If your syrup becomes too thick while simmering, feel free to add more water to thin it out.
    • Let these candied lemon slices sit at room temperature for a whole day before storing them.
    • If you don't like the lemon slices to be sticky, coat them with some sugar.
    • Don't get rid of the rest of the lemon syrup; save it in a jar; it makes a great addition to a cup of tea or lemonade.

    Use honey

Replace sugar with honey, and because honey is sweeter than sugar, we will use only half a cup of honey. To make this lemon candy using honey, follow the instructions below:

    • Heat half a cup of honey and 3 tablespoon of lemon juice in a skillet on medium heat.
    • Add the lemon slices and cook for 5-8minutes, then flip to the other side and cook for another 5 minutes. Simmer until peel is tender.
    • Leave the lemon slices to cool and dry on a wire rack.

This candid recipe is amazing. I did the exact recipe, but I use orange instead of lemon, and it turned out amazing.

This was my first time to make candied lemon, and it turned out amazing. I used it to decorate a cake I made for my daughter birthday, and she liked it.
