How Many Tablespoons Are in 1/4 Cup ( 1/4 Cup To Tablespoons)

    Published: Jan 2, 2025 by Radwa ·

I got stuck converting ¼ cup to tablespoons (tbsp) mid-recipe yesterday. So, I wanted to share how many tablespoons are in a ¼ cup for accuracy and precise measurements.

How Many Tablespoons Are in ¼ Cup ( ¼ Cup To Tablespoons).

How Many Tablespoons Are in ¼ Cup

According to the standard conversion in the US:

1 cup = 16 tablespoons (tbsp), Dividing this by 4:

    ¼ cup = 4 tablespoons (tbsp)

Using accurate measurements is so important to make good recipes. To make it even easier, I made the above print; I printed it and stuck it on my fridge. Here it is (you can do the same, if you like).

Why Do You Need To Convert

If you're halving a recipe, ¼ cup becomes 2 tablespoons! If you double a recipe, ¼ cup becomes 8 tablespoons!

It is super important to be able to convert measurements when working with smaller amounts of ingredients.

If your recipe calls for ¼ cup but you only have tablespoons, no problem! You can still do the recipe. Just add 4 tablespoons.

Also, If you're halving a recipe, ¼ cup becomes 2 tablespoons! If you double a recipe, ¼ cup becomes 8 tablespoons!

Let me give you an example: If a recipe calls for ¼ cup of all-purpose flour and you want to cut it in half, knowing that ¼ cup equals 4 tablespoons, it is easy to calculate. You need to use 2 tablespoons (half of 4 tablespoons).

Also, you need 8 tablespoons if you were to double a recipe that calls for ¼ cup of all-purpose flour.

    Tips For Accurate Measurements

If you are measuring flour or any other dry ingredient, fill the cup with dry ingredients and flatten it using a spoon.

For precise measurements, use measuring spoons and cups.

How Many Teaspoons (tsp) Are In A Tablespoon (tbsp)?

A tablespoon equals 3 teaspoons or 15 mL.
