In this cookie recipe, I choose to use matcha to give the dough the green colour, which is different, unique and spooky at the same time. The colour wasn't the only reason that made me use matcha but also, the healthy benefits of it and of course the lovely taste of matcha green tea.

How To Decorate Halloween Cookies?
In order to make scary Halloween cookies, you need to be creative in decorating your cookies but also be simple. I don't particularly appreciate using complicated techniques in decorating my desserts; the simpler, the better.
You can use a cookie cutter in shapes like a bat, ghost and pumpkin. Use dark sprinkles and food colouring. A few drops of red food colour on top of the cookies will look good and simple at the same time.
What Can I Use To Decorate Halloween Treats?
To decorate any Halloween treats, I usually use any of the below.
- M&Ms or Halloween M&Ms: Both M&Ms or Halloween M&Ms look nice on the cookies.
- Fondant icing: Is an icing used to decorate cake or cookies that is made of sugar, water, fat and gelatin. It is easy to use, and it gives a lovely texture and look to the dessert.
- Food colouring: I usually use the Halloween colours such as red, orange or black on frosting or in the dessert dough.
- Halloween sprinkles: These sprinkles have two colours, orange and black, and they look great on top of Halloween treats.
- Candy eyeballs: I love them because they give the cookies or any Halloween treats a scary look!
- Chocolate sprinkles: These chocolate sprinkles look good on cookies or cake.
- Nonpareils: These tiny balls made with sugar and starch, and they are available in many colours; they are absolutely amazing in decorating such cookies.
Pro Tips
- Don't overbake the cookies, so they don't become dry and crack
- If you don't like to use matcha for any reason, you can use one or two drops of green food colour instead.
