Yes, it is that time of year again; it is Halloween. Today, I will share with you SUPER easy and cute Halloween cookies to enjoy during the Halloween celebration.

Cute halloween cookies with matcha, candy eyes and chocolate sprinkles.

    Halloween Cookies

I made these easy Halloween cookies with matcha to give them these lovely green color and decorated them with chocolate sprinkles and candy eyes.

I don't particularly appreciate using complicated techniques in decorating my cookies; the simpler, the better.

The recipe is SOOO easy and it only take 10 minutes in the oven! They are perfect for Halloween parties or to give to trick or treaters.

My daughter loved these cookies so much, and we both had fun decorating them.

    You'll Need

Ingredients needed to make halloween cookies.
    • All purpose flour
    • Matcha: If you don't like to use matcha for any reason, you can use one or two drops of green food colour instead.
    • Granulated sugar
    • Butter
    • Vanilla extract
    • Egg, room temperature
    • Baking powder
    • Salt
    • Candy eyes
    • Halloween sprinkles

How To Make Cute Halloween Cookies

steps of making the halloween cookies.

Before starting, preheat the oven to 175C / 340F and line a baking sheet with parchment pepper.

One (Making the dough): Firstly, cream the sugar and butter together using the electric hand mixer or even a fork.

Two: Add the egg and vanilla extract, whisk.

Three (Combine the dry ingredients): In another bowl, combine flour, matcha, baking powder and salt.

Four: Add the flour mixture to the previous mixture and mix well until combined.

Five (Chill the dough): Cover the dough with plastic wrap then put in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or for the next day if you like.

steps of shaping and decorating the cookies.

Six (Shaping and decorating the cookies): Remove the plastic wrap and cut the dough to four parts.

Seven: Place the first part between two parchment paper sheets and roll out the dough using the rolling pin until it is in a suitable thickness (about ¼ inch).

Eight: Cut the dough using a circular dough cutter then keep doing the same process with the other dough parts.

Nine (Decorating the cookies): Decorate the cookies with candy eyes and sprinkles.

Ten (Baking): Place the cookie in the baking sheets then bake for 8 minutes. Leave the cookies to cool on a wire rack for ten minutes.

Tip: If you bake them for more than 8 minutes, the cookies will turn brown, which we don't want.

    Other Decoration Ideas

To decorate any Halloween treats, I usually use any of the below.

    • M&Ms or Halloween M&Ms: Both M&Ms or Halloween M&Ms look nice on the cookies.
    • Fondant icing: Is an icing used to decorate cake or cookies that is made of sugar, water, fat and gelatin. It is easy to use, and it gives a lovely texture and look to the dessert.
    • Food colouring: I usually use the Halloween colours such as red, orange or black on frosting or in the dessert dough.
    • Halloween sprinkles: These sprinkles have two colours, orange and black, and they look great on top of Halloween treats.
    • Candy eyeballs: I love them because they give the cookies or any Halloween treats a scary look!
    • Chocolate sprinkles: These chocolate sprinkles look good on cookies or cake.
    • Nonpareils: These tiny balls made with sugar and starch, and they are available in many colours; they are absolutely amazing in decorating such cookies.

    Notes

Don't overbake the cookies so they don't become dry and crack. Also, overbaking will turn their color brown instead of beautiful green.
