Incredibly juicy rib eye steak flavored with garlic and fresh rosemary and cooked in butter. You can’t beat the smell of a juicy steak sizzling in the pan or the taste of a rich buttery steak sauce.
Rib Eye Steak With Garlic Butter
I love this steak recipe; it combines the bold, earthy flavours of garlic and rosemary with butter to create a simple, one pan steak sauce that will bring the tastes and aromas of a French bistro into your kitchen.
Easy enough to cook on a busy weeknight, yet impressive enough to wow your friends with at a dinner party.
I prefer to use a rib-eye steak to guarantee a juicy cut of meat with a bit of bite. I also find cooking steak on the stovetop with butter turns it juicy, unlike grilling it.
Ingredients
Note: This is an overview of the ingredients. See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Steak: I used rib eye; however, sirloin also works good for this recipe.
Salt and ground black pepper: To taste.
Olive oil and butter: I like to use a little bit of olive oil along with the butter.
Fresh rosemary and garlic: Both will give a delicious taste and aroma to this dish.
How To Cook Garlic Butter Rib Eye Steak
One: Wash the steaks then thoroughly pat dry with a kitchen towel. Season the steaks with salt and ground pepper on both sides.
Tip: I highly recommend taking the steak out of the fridge 20-30 minutes before cooking to allow it to come to room temperature, which helps to cook evenly.
Two: Place a heavy frying pan over medium heat until it is hot enough that water hisses when you flick it onto the pan, then spray the pan with light olive oil.
Three: Cook the steaks for 2 minutes on one side.
Four: Lower the heat and add the butter, rosemary and garlic to the pan.
Five: Then, use a spoon to pour the butter, rosemary and garlic over the steaks. Continue to cook the steaks for a further 4 minutes, or until fully cooked, continuing to use a spoon to pour over the butter, rosemary and garlic sauce. Bon appetit!
Tip: If you like your steak well done, cook it one minute longer if it is particularly thick or for less time if it is thinly cut.
How Long Do You Cook A Steak
For rare steak, I recommend cooking for just 2 minutes on each side.
For medium, cook for 4 minutes each side.
And for well done, which I like the most, I cook it for 5-6 minutes on each side (if it is not too thick, I cook it just for 5 minutes and if it is thick, for 6 minutes on each side).
Tips and Variations
Substitute 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary if fresh is not available, but the taste will not be quite as good.
You may also replace the rosemary with thyme if you want.
