My homemade Burrito Seasoning will max up your burrito experience with its superb and spiced taste. You can use it for all your Mexican dishes as well.
To make this seasoning blend, I used ground cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, and black pepper, so you can only imagine how delicious your burrito will be once you seasoned it with this homemade seasoning!
The Best Burrito Seasoning
It is an excellently balanced seasoning combination that produces the BEST burrito seasoning, and you can also use it on tacos and chicken. Anyone who loves a hot and spicy burrito will surely fall in love with this seasoning without any hesitations at all.
I use this seasoning for all my other dishes that require a Mexican touch, such as tacos, quesadilla and I even sometimes use it in making shawarma.
You probably already have most of the simple ingredients needed for this homemade spice mix, and it will only take you 2 minutes to prepare the whole shebang. After that, you will have a wonderfully flexible spice blend that you can use for anything Mexican.
It is not always that I can find a good burrito seasoning in my supermarket, hence it is better to have this spicy blend in my pantry for whenever I plan to have burritos in the house.
Ingredients
Ground Cumin. Spice blends always treat ground cumin as an important ingredient in their recipe because of its rich, warm, and earthy taste.
Garlic Powder. Garlic powder balances the spice in this recipe because it imparts a sweeter and caramelly undertone taste.
Paprika. It gives the spice mix a subtle earthiness and warmth, plus it also helps garlic powder in adding sweetness to the mix.
Black Pepper. Hot and pungent, black pepper is a perfect ingredient in this spicy mix because it is an excellent seasoning for any savory dishes such as burritos.
Salt. It enhances all the flavors found in this recipe since it brings out all the natural flavors of ingredients.
Cayenne Pepper. Cayenne pepper makes this seasoning mix somewhat more hot and spicy. If you love spicy food, you must not forget to add this ingredient.
Dried Oregano. Dried oregano is peppery and pungent, which is a good accompaniment to black pepper.

How to Make Burrito Seasoning?
- Mix all the ingredients well in a small bowl.
- Store in a well-sealed glass jar and Keep in a dry place such as your pantry or kitchen cabin.
Expert Tips!
- If you only want to flavor your burrito with a bit of spice, limit the amount of cayenne pepper you are adding to the mixture.
- Use kosher salt to purely balance the flavors in the recipe without adding salty flavor anymore.
- I use this seasoning mix in beef nachos and chicken tacos as well!
How To Use
This amount of the ingredients I added (you will find them in the recipe card below) is enough to replace 1 package of store-bought burrito seasoning. Fell free to double or triple the recipe to be ready for all your Mexican dishes.
I recommend you add one tablespoon of the seasoning to every half pound of meat or poultry. This can be done either before or after cooking the meat. You can add more, depending on how much you like it. This is a good rule of thumb to follow.
How To Store
Do not store this in direct sunlight or near a stovetop; otherwise, it will change color. Keep then in a dry place such as your pantry or kitchen cabins.
This Homemade seasoning can be stored in your pantry for up to 6 months. Just keep it in a glass jar with a tight cap, and you can enjoy this spicy mix at home for long months.
