    Chocolate chip banana muffins are fluffy, moist and have a dens banana flavour. They are so delicious and a perfect choice for breakfast with a cup of coffee or tea, of course; such a lovely idea to start your day.

    These chocolate chip banana muffins are simple, quick and easy. All you need to make these easy and moist banana muffins are a few basic ingredients and chocolate chips. They bake in less than 30 minutes; I am sure these banana muffins will be your new favourite recipe.

    • Butter
    • Bananas very ripe, mashed
    • Plain flour
    • pinch of salt
    • Baking powder
    • Baking soda
    • Eggs
    • Vanilla extract
    • Dark chocolate chips

    Powdered sugar (optional)

    What if I don't have ripe bananas?

    If you don't have ripe bananas, simply, place the bananas (skin on )on an ovenproof baking dish then bake for 5-10 minutes until softened. Get them out of the oven and let cool for a while then mash them using a fork.

    How To Make Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins?

    • Preheat the oven to 170C
    • Mash the bananas coarsely using a fork, then set aside.
    • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
    • Add the eggs, one by one, then the vanilla extract and mix.
    • Follow by adding the mashed bananas and mix.
    • After that, add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, and mix.
    • Finally, add the dark chocolate chips, and stir.
    • Line a 12 muffin pan with muffin liners, then divide the batter between the 12 muffin liners.
    • Bake for 25-27 minutes.
    • Let the muffins cool down, then sprinkle the powdered sugar on top.

    Tips and Variations

    • You can use semisweet chocolate chips or white chocolate chips if you like.
    • Roughly mash the bananas for a better texture.
    • Add some chopped pecans or walnuts to the batter.
    • Make extra chocolaty muffins and add 2 tablespoons cocoa powder to the batter.

    Store And Freeze

    These banana muffins can be stored in the fridge for about 4-5 days; just wrap them in plastic wrap for not to get dry. 

    Also, you can freeze them for a month; keep them in an airtight container in the freezer until you need them.

    Ingredients

    • ⅔ cup sugar
    • ½ cup butter
    • 3 bananas ripe, mashed
    • 1 ½ cup plain flour
    • pinch of salt
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 2 eggs room temperature
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

    Topping

    • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional)

    Instructions

    • Add the eggs; one by one, then the vanilla extract and mix.

    • After that add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, mix.
      1 ½ cup plain flour, pinch of salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • Finally add the dark chocolate chips, stir.
      1 cup dark chocolate chips
    • Line a 12 muffin pan with muffin liners then divide the batter between the 12 muffin liners.
