Call them baked donuts or cake donuts—it doesn't matter. What truly matters is that these baked donuts are SUPER soft, chocolaty, and not greasy! Plus, no frying is needed at all.

Baked Donuts
These homemade baked donuts are sooo delicious and healthier alternatives to deep-fried donuts; they could make an excellent dessert or breakfast.
My baked donut recipe is so simple; it requires just a few ingredients! And since I love chocolate doughnuts, I topped them with chocolate frosting and scattered some festive sprinkles on top.
Using Greek yogurt is key in this recipe. It gives the doughnuts a soft, fluffy texture.
Also, because this is a baked donut recipe, no yeast is needed; instead, I use baking powder.

Ingredients
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
- All-purpose flour
- Granulated sugar
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Unsalted butter
- Greek yogurt
- Eggs
For the chocolate frosting and topping, I use powdered sugar, milk, cocoa powder and sprinkles (optional).
Tip: I highly recommend using room-temperature ingredients for better mixing.

How To Make This Chocolate Frosted Baked Donuts?

One: Preheat the oven to 180C / 350F. Grease donut pan well with butter (the batter should be making 12 donuts).
Tip: I highly recommend using a non-stick donut pan to remove the donuts out of the pan without damaging them.
Two: In a bowl, mix flour, salt, baking powder and sugar until combined. Then, in a small bowl, beat the eggs and vanilla extract.
Three: Add the eggs mixture, greek yogurt and melted butter to the flour mixture, and mix well (the butter will be too thick).
Four: Add water to the batter, add the sprinkles, and mix.
Tip: Don't overmix the batter; otherwise, they will turn out dense.
Four: Transfer the batter into a piping bag and then pip the batter into the donut pan.
Tip: I prefer to use a piping bag to neatly fill the donut pan with batter.
Tip: Don't overfill the pan with batter—fill it just ⅔ full.
Five: Bake the donuts for 10-15 minutes. Let them cool down.
Tip: Be careful not to overbake them. You don't want them to turn out dry.
Six: Make Chocolate Frosting: In a small bowl, mix sugar powder, milk and cocoa powder well until combine. Dunk the donuts into the chocolate frosting and scatter the sprinkles on top.
Tip: Let Them Cool completely before adding the frosting.
Tip: If you want to use chocolate instead of cocoa powder, you can microwave 100 g chocolate and 1 teaspoon butter for 1 minute, stir well then dip the donuts in it.
