    Meatball Seasoning

This Meatball Seasoning is my secret for making zesty and flavoursome meatballs every time!

I usually use this meatball spice mix in recipes like Oven Baked Meatballs, Moroccan Meatballs In Tomato Sauce and more.

    a spoonful of Meatball Seasoning.

    Meatball Seasoning

My children love meatballs so much, and because I make them a lot, it was convenient for me to make my own homemade meatball spice mix, which saves me money and time.

Meatball seasoning is a pre-prepared mixture of the right spices and herbs that you use to spice up your meat before making the meatballs, or you can even sprinkle over your meatballs and spaghetti.

It’s got everything from paprika, and oregano to onion and garlic powders, saving you from chopping or pulling up fresh ingredients whenever you feel like having meatballs.

What’s in This Meatball Seasoning Recipe?

    Meatball Seasoning ingredients.

Meatball seasoning is prepared through the mixture of various condiments, all of which are ground to a powder state:

    • Paprika: Pick a variant of spiciness you can handle
    • Basil: you can pick it up from the grocery store
    • Oregano: Probably have it in your kitchen.
    • Coriander: Popularly available at any Indian grocery store
    • Garlic powder: Prepare it at home or pick it up from the spice aisle
    • Onion powder: Can be prepared at home or bought
    • Salt: Just what you have at home
    • Black Pepper: Whatever you have at home works
    • Red pepper flakes: Yes, we’ll add this in addition to paprika
    • Ginger powder: you could buy it or prepare it on your own

“See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.”

    Variations & Substitutions

Although the ingredients mentioned in this recipe are more than enough, you could spice things even more with the following condiments:

    • Mustard powder: Releases a tangy oil by adding a tad bit of water whilst cooking.
    • Parsley Leaf Powder: Similar to oregano, Parsley lead powder can help enhance the other flavours in the dish. It’s an interesting twist to add to your seasoning.
    • Cayenne pepper: A great condiment to add to your seasoning if you’re a fan of some spicy meatballs.

    Make It Your Way

Preparing this Meatball Seasoning is easy. The only challenging part of the recipe is gathering and preparing all the ingredients for mixing.

Also, I’d like to mention that the combination of all the spices that I’ve mentioned makes for the perfect seasoning. Nonetheless, the quantities and measurements for each spice can be altered as per your liking.

Suppose you like your meatballs spicy, but not exceptionally hot or spicy. In this case, it would be a good idea to keep the quantities of the paprika and red pepper flakes relatively low.

Similarly, if you’re a fan of herbs more than spices, you can up the quantities of the oregano, coriander, and basil. You can even go ahead and prepare them on your own.

Once you’ve narrowed down approximate measurements of each spice, it’s time to mix them all together.

    How To Prepare Meatball Seasoning?

One: Mix all the spices until they are well combined.

Two: Transfer this mixture into sealed glass jar.

Ta-duh, one batch of Meatball Seasoning, and the promise of several perfectly spiced meatballs are ready to go!

taking one spoon of Meatball Seasoning from a glass jar.

How Much Seasoning Do You Use In Making Meatballs?

My formula is I use 2 tablespoons of this spice mix for every 1 pound of meat, and it turns out so good, not over or under-seasoned, just perfect!

    Expert Tips

    • If you don’t want the containers to absorb the smell of the seasoning, you can use a glass container with a tight lid to store this seasoning.
    • After you’ve mixed all the herbs and spices, it’s a good idea to use a funnel to transfer the seasoning into the container of your choice. You could also use rolled-up parchment paper, but if you want to avoid a mess, do get your hands on a funnel.
    • I recommend adding a label to the jar of the date that the seasoning had been prepared. Even though this seasoning lasts very long, it’s nice to know exactly how long it did.

    Other Uses for Meatball Seasoning

You may have landed on this blog searching for a perfect meatball seasoning recipe, but you’ll be happy to discover that this seasoning can serve so much more!

From spaghetti to fried rice, or good-old curry to your meatballs, this seasoning can spice up many more delicacies than you can think off the top of your head.

    Storage

Make ahead of time: You can quickly mix up a batch whenever you’d like, and it’ll be useable for days to come without any change in flavour if it is stored properly.

Store: This meatball seasoning will keep well for at least 6-8 months. Just keep this seasoning stored in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.

    Why Make My Own Seasoning

You can definitely find any seasoning in the grocery store –that too in various sizes and brands. Nonetheless, most of them have high contents of salt and very little content in flavours.

Also, you can customize the seasoning to your liking and save money and time.
