I had some leftover ripe bananas, so I thought I should put them to good use! I decided to make chocolate chip banana bread.

I love this recipe because it is moist, simple, and easy to make. It is also loaded with chocolate chips.

    Chocolate Chips Banana Bread

This is the best and the only banana bread recipe I will ever need, as it always turns out moist and tasty. This recipe never fails me, and my family absolutely love it!

Here is everything I did to succeed in making this recipe:

First, I used ripe bananas, which is very important because these rip bananas provide a suitable amount of moisture to your bread.

Second, I mixed the batter just until combined because overmixing the batter creates a dense cake.

Finally, I used room-temperature ingredients, which allowed all the ingredients to mix together well.

    Why Does This Recipe Work

    • If you have extra bananas, you can make a double batch and freeze the extra.
    • This is a freezer-friendly recipe.
    • Making this delicious banana bread is the best way to use any leftover bananas you have in the kitchen.
    • This is a delicious recipe for breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Note: This is an overview of the ingredients. See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

    • Butter: It will give richness and tenderness to your loaf cake.
    • Granulated sugar: To sweeten your banana bread, you need to add sugar. You may use either white or brown sugar.
    • Vanilla extract: For extra flavor.
    • Eggs: I used 2 large eggs at room temperature.
    • Bananas: I used 3 large ripe bananas.
    • All-purpose flour: What I had at home.
    • Baking powder: It allows your bread to rise.
    • Baking soda: A second raising agent to achieve a fluffy texture.
    • Salt: A little goes a long way.
    • Chocolate chips: I used milk chocolate chips; you can use dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips.

How to Make Moist Chocolate Chips Banana Bread

Steps for making the recipe by photos.

First Step - Preparations: Preheat the oven to 180C, 350F and grease a 9-inch loaf pan well with butter or spray with cooking spray then use a fork to mash the bananas then set aside.

Second Step - Making the bread: In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until they become fluffy using an electric mixer. Add eggs one by one then vanilla extract, whisk. Then, add the mashed bananas, whisk.

Pro Tip: Properly cream the butter and sugar. This will give the bread fluffiness and Prevent it from being dense.

Third Step - Sifting the dry ingredients: Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt over the banana mixture, whisk. Stir in the chocolate chips to the batter using a rubber spatula. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

Fourth Step - Baking: Bake for 55-60 minutes or until fully baked.
Let the bread cool down completely on a wire rack.

    Chocolate Chips

You can use dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips since the loaf cake is sweet thanks to the overripe bananas along with the white sugar. However, if you like it extra sweet, you may use milk chocolate.

    Add-Ins

    • Nuts: chopped walnuts or pecan
    • Veggies: Shredded zucchini or carrots.
    • Fruits: Strawberry or Raspberry.
    • Oats: These will provide a little more texture.
    • Seeds: sunflower seeds or chia seeds.
    • Dried fruit: Cranberries, apricots, sultanas or raisins.
    • Cocoa powder
    • Applesauce
    • White chocolate chips

    Recipe FAQS

How to quickly ripen bananas for baking?

If you don't have ripe bananas and you don't want to wait any longer to make this banana bread, you can put your bananas unpeeled in a baking sheet then bake in the oven at 180C for 15-20 minutes.

    How to mash the bananas?

There are 2 methods to mash the bananas; the first method is to peel and slice the bananas, put in the food processor and blitz until puree. The second method is simply to use a fork to mash them. I prefer using the fork; it is much simpler.
