My Christmas sprinkle cookies have a sweet, buttery texture and a vibrant sprinkle topping. They make a delightful treat for the holidays or as thoughtful gifts.
Christmas Sprinkle Cookies
I absolutely adore making these Christmas Sprinkle Cookies every Christmas with my kids. Actually, we have a lovely bonding time making these cookies together and decorating them with sprinkles and each year, we use different sprinkles.
This year, I went the extra mile and prepared an extra batch for my neighbour because these cookies make the perfect Christmas gift.
These cookies are buttery and sweet, and what I really love about these sprinkle cookies is that I can make a whole variety of Christmas cookies in different shapes and colours.
What You’ll Need
Butter: I use unsalted butter at room temperature.
Caster sugar: I like to use Caster sugar in making desserts because it dissolves quickly.
Flour: I use all purpose flour.
Vanilla extract: To flavor.
Egg: I use only one large egg as a binding agent.
Sprinkles: They are the playful ingredients that add fun to making these cookies; you're free to choose any shapes or colors you like. Personally, I enjoy using Christmas-themed sprinkles for an extra festive touch.
How To Make Christmas Sprinkle Cookies
The first thing to do is to preheat the oven to 180C / 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the dough: Mix the butter and sugar using the electric whisk until well combined. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mix again. Then, stir in the flour, use your hands to mix everything.
Refrigerate the dough: You can go ahead and work with the dough if you like; however, I highly recommend refrigerating it for 30 minutes.
Shape the dough: Roll on the dough between two sheets of parchment paper or on a clean floured surface. Use a cookie cutter to and cut out the cookies carefully (I like the star shape 🙂) then place in the baking sheet.
Pro Tip: I recommend rolling the dough to about 2 cm in thickness. For softer cookies, roll it to 3-4 cm thickness; if you prefer them crunchy, aim for a 1 cm thickness.
Add the sprinkles: Lightly press the sprinkles on top of your cookies.
Baking: Bake for 8-9 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool down.

- Powdered sugar: Add a simple dusting of sugar over the cookies to make them extra delicious.
