Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake
I love the combination of chocolate and cherries—it’s incredibly delicious! Another thing I love about this dump cake is that we prepare it right in the baking pan, so there’s no mess and no extra dishes.
This chocolate-cherry dessert is perfect for everyday treats or special occasions.

You'll Need
This is an overview of the ingredients. See the recipe card for full ingredient and quantity information.
- Cherry pie filling: I use 2 x 410g cans of cherry pie filling.
- Chocolate cake mix: Use your favorite brand.
- Butter: I use melted, unsalted butter.
- Vanilla extract (optional): To add flavor.
How To Make Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake
One: Preheat the oven to 180 C / 350 F.

Two: Pour the cherry pie filling into a 20 × 20 cm baking pan.
Three: Add a few drops of vanilla extract (optional), then stir until fully combined. Using a spatula, spread the filling evenly in the pan.
Four: Microwave the butter for about 10 seconds, or until fully melted.
Five: Take your box of cake mix and sprinkle it on top of the cherry pie filling.

Six: Pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, making sure most of it is coated.
Seven: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until the filling is bubbling and the top is firm.
Eight: Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 10-15 minutes.
Ta-duh! Your dessert is ready to be served. Dig in!
How to tell if a dump cake is done? It will be slightly brown on the top, and the filling will be a little bubbly and oozing from the edges of the pan.
