Seasoned Baked Cod
I like cod dishes because they are great for quick cooking, and so versatile that they pair well with almost any side.
It is a staple in my family to make seafood twice a week, last week we enjoyed Salmon With Asparagus And Potatoes and Boom Boom Shrimp, and they were amazing!
In this recipe, a flaky cod was infused with flavors of butter, lemon, garlic, and olive oil, and the result was a juicy and super flavourful fish dish. That sounds absolutely delicious!
I also tried grilling the marinated cod instead of baking it. However, it turned out not as juicy. So, I highly recommend baking the cod.
Ingredients
Note: This is an overview of the ingredients. See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Cod Fillets: I used fresh cod fillets; however, this recipe also works with salmon and sea bass.
Garlic: I used 2 cloves of fresh garlic.
Olive oil: I like to use olive oil with butter for better taste and texture.
Butter: I prefer using unsalted butter in all my dishes. This way, I have better control over the overall saltiness of the dish.
LemonJuice: It adds a beautiful citrusy flavour to the dish.
Seasonings: I used cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, ground black pepper and fresh thyme.
How To Make Seasoned Baked Cod
One: Preheat the oven at 200C / 390F and place the cod fillets in an ovenproof baking dish.
Two: In a bowl, add minced garlic, melted butter, olive oil, lemon juice and all the spices. Stir well until combined.
Pro Tip: You may prepare the marinade 2 days in advance and store it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to make the fish.
Three: Use a brush to spread the mixture thoroughly covering the whole cod fillets.
Four: Bake for 10-15 minutes or until fully cooked (flakes easily).
Pro Tip: If you use a thermometer, it must reach 145 degrees F.
Pro Tip: Be careful not to overcook the cod fillets, or they will turn dry instead of juicy.
Five: Garnish with some chopped parsley then serve.
Storage
Refrigerate leftovers for up to 2 days. Heat in the oven for 5 minutes or so until heated through. I don't recommend freezing this dish as it affects the texture and taste badly.
How To Serve This Seasoned Baked Cod
This baked cod can be served alongside a variety of dishes such as white rice, salad, grilled vegetables; I like to serve it with one of my side dish recipes below.
Green Beans: This fresh green beans recipe uses butter, garlic and parmesan cheese.
Spicy Roasted Cauliflower: This roasted cauliflower recipe uses olive oil, garlic, lemon and chilli flakes.
Cheesy Cauliflower: This is a beautiful side dish prepared with cauliflower, cheddar cheese, eggs along with seasonings such as salt, pepper, dry basil and Italian seasoning.
Can I Use A Frozen Cod?
