    Jump to Recipe

What is Chocolate Lush? It is four layers of deliciousness. The bottom layer is a crust made with pecan, flour, and butter. The second layer is a rich cream cheese layer. The third layer is a delicious chocolate pudding layer. The fourth layer is an extra rich layer of whipped cream.

    Chocolate Lush

This popular dessert has so many names such as Chocolate Lush Dessert, Sex in a Pan, Slush Cake, Chocolate Lasagna, or Chocolate Fudge Layered Lush.

You can also prepare it with different flavours such as Lemon Lush, Banana Lush, or Strawberry Cake Lush, and I love it with all these flavours.

    What's in Chocolate Lush?

Note: This is an overview of the ingredients. See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

For the crust, I used all-purpose flour, finely chopped pecans and softened butter.

For the cream cheese layer, I used Philadelphia cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy cream and vanilla extract.

For the chocolate pudding layer, I used instant chocolate pudding mix and milk.

Tip: Make sure to buy instant pudding mix, not the one that needs cooking.

For the top layer, I used heavy cream, chocolate chips and chopped pecans.

    How to Make Chocolate Lush?

    making the crust
    baking the crust

    Preheat the oven for 180C/350F.

Make the crust layer: In a bowl, combine, flour, chopped pecan, and melted butter, mix well then place the mixture in a 20x20 cm baking pan. Distribute the mixture evenly in the pan then press on the mixture using the palm of your hands.

Bake the crust for 10-15 minutes then allow it to cool down.

Once the crust is completely cooled, begin layering up the dessert with the creamy layers.

      Making the chocolate pudding layer

Make the cream cheese layer: In a small bowl, whip the cream using an electric whisk.

In another bowl, combine cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar using the electric whisk until the mixture becomes fluffy.

Fold the whipped cream in the cream cheese mixture, stir until combined. Spread the cream cheese mixture in an even layer on top of the crust.

Make the chocolate pudding layer: In a medium-size bowl, whisk chocolate pudding and milk until the mixture thicken. Spread the chocolate pudding carefully on top of the cream cheese layer.

    Making the chocolate pudding layer

Make the whipped cream layer (top layer): Whip the cream well using an electric whisk until become thick. Spread over the chocolate pudding layer.

Sprinkle chopped pecans and chocolate chips on top of the chocolate lush.

Then refrigerate the pan for 3-4 hours or overnight.

    • If you like your crust to be chocolaty, add one tablespoon of cocoa powder to the crust mixture.
