They have the same nutritional benefits as white sugar, but brown sugar is used for this recipe because the color of this recipe is delicious brown, and brown sugar contributes to this color. Sugar helps to keep confections moist and soft for a long time.

    Eggs: As with almost every cake recipe, you would need eggs for this cake recipe for structure, and in this recipe, what you should be gunning for is a loaf structure. Attaining a good balance between your flour ingredient and your eggs will give you the perfect structure. Eggs also add flavor and color to the recipe. It also acts as a leavening agent.

    Instant Coffee: For this recipe, coffee is a cardinal ingredient, it balances out the brown sugar, and it gives the recipe a unique earthy and bitter-sweet taste and flavor. They also have a tinge of spicy notes in baked goods, adding to their overall flavor. The instant coffee should be dissolved in 1 teaspoon of warm water for this recipe. This recipe also requires extra coffee granules for the coffee glaze.

    Plain flour: Flour is a base ingredient in this recipe.

    Baking powder: This is the main leavening ingredient or rising agent in this recipe, and this ingredient is necessary for your cake to be fluffy, light, and soft.

    For Coffee Glaze

    Walnuts: As the name of the recipe implies, walnuts are also a cardinal part of the recipe. The walnuts are chopped up into chunky-sized bits, and they are a great addition to the flavor and taste of the recipe. Walnuts are great sources of antioxidants and healthy fats or unsaturated fat.

    Some variations

    This recipe is as perfect as they come; however, you might feel the need to want to switch things up a bit and make your recipe with a little razzle-dazzle or just to make it simpler than what we have here. you could decide to;

    • Grind the walnuts into a fine powder form instead of chunky chopped bits like I did
    • Include other nut types; although this recipe should primarily consist of walnuts, you could get away with sneaking in a few other nut types
    • Add some dried fruits; for some reason, coffee, nuts, and dried fruits go so well together. However, if you do not want to alter the original recipe, you can leave it as it is.
