Pizza Dough with Plain Flour
I always make sure to use this pizza dough recipe when I whip out my favorite pizza sauce and toppings because, as a base, this one wins over all the other pizza doughs I have ever tried.
I love this recipe because it does not require much kneading. I only need one to two minutes to have that perfectly kneaded dough!
I also do not need any fancy and expensive materials to make this easy pizza dough with plain flour, as I easily knead the dough with my bare hands alone.
This recipe makes a large 30 cm pizza or 2 small 18 cm pizzas, and also, you can easily double or triple the ingredients to make more pizzas.
This is a freezer-friendly recipe. Do you know what that means? This means that you can make a bunch of this dough in your free time, so you can safely keep it in the freezer for future use!
How convenient is getting pizza dough from your freezer when craving homemade pizza?
You'll Need
Plain Flour. Also known as all-purpose flour.
Dried Yeast. Make sure to use good-quality dried yeast.
Salt. I add just a pinch.
Granulated sugar. Sugar in this recipe helps activate the dried yeast.
Olive Oil. Olive oil adds a good flavor and improves the texture of the pizza dough.
How to Make The It
One: Preheat the oven to 220°c/428°f.
Two: In a mixing bowl, mix together plain flour, salt, sugar and dried yeast.
Three: Mix in olive oil and water until bringing the dough together.
Four: Now, knead the dough for 1-2 minutes on a clean and lightly floured work surface.
Five: Put the dough back in the bowl and cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rest for 35-45 minutes in a warm place.
Six: Now, put the dough in a ziplock bag and keep it in the fridge for later use.
Seven: You can also top it with your favourit sauce and toppings, then bake in the oven for 9-10 minutes.
Pro Tip: You can make this pizza dough three days ahead of time before you use it for your homemade pizza. Just place it in a ziplock before you refrigerate it.
Recipe Variations
- If you are already going to use your pizza dough, dust it first with cornmeal, as it will give the crust an extra flavor and crispiness once the baking is done.
- Use caster sugar instead of granulated sugar if the latter is unavailable in your pantry.
How To Store It
Refrigerate for up to three days in a ziplock.
If you plan to freeze the pizza dough you made, you can keep it in a ziplock before freezing it for up to three months.
Recipe FAQs
Yes! You can absolutely make dough with just water and flour as your ingredients. Simply add water gradually to a mixing bowl where your flour is and mix them until you already have a consistency similar to a Play-Doh.
It is best to use plain flour for pizza because you can control the amount of leavening agent in the pizza dough. Self-rising flour already has a baking powder in it, which can be quite tricky to control when cooking the pizza.

This is my first time making this pizza and I was just wondering if the dough really has to be left for three days before cooking or can I use it straight away?
Radwa says
You can use it immediately; however, if you like to store it, it will last for 3 days in the fridge.
