What's in This Kimchi Pizza Recipe?

Pizza Crust. You can make your pizza crust from your homemade pizza dough, but it would save you a lot of effort and time if you would just rather buy from the store. Pizza crust will hold all your delicious toppings together as your pizza bakes in the oven.

Sesame Oil. Most Korean cuisines call for sesame oil as it adds flavor to sauteing dishes. For this pizza recipe, cook your toppings in well-heated sesame oil for better flavor.

Chilli Sauce. A pizza is always a good one with a bit of spice and sauciness, add chili sauce to achieve that.

Kimchi. It will be the base ingredient for this recipe, it will add the tangy, pungent, and sour flavor to the pizza.

Tomato Sauce. Tomato sauce has two purposes in this recipe, first is to give more flavor to the dish, the second is the base for the Pizza sauce.

Garlic. It makes a huge difference in cooking your toppings. With the presence of garlic as a flavoring agent, the taste of this pizza's topping is improved.

Mozzarella Cheese. Melty, cheesy mozzarella cheese allows for a stringy and mouthwatering pizza.

    Top Tips!

    • Some of us prefer a soft pizza crust instead of the common and most preferred crunchy texture of the pizza. If you like the former, cook the pizza for less time or cook it at a lower temperature.
    • To prevent your pizza from getting soggy, cook your toppings well until the sauce has a thicker consistency. Watery sauce creates soggy pizza crusts.
    • Brush your pizza crust with sesame oil before topping it with the sauce, the result for your pizza crust will come out crisp with better color.
    • Make sure the sauce is at room temperature before topping it in your pizza crust, or else your pizza will become too soft and will not be crisp when the baking is done.

    Recipe Variations

    • Add veggies in your toppings, such as sweet red onions, leafy baby spinach, and even asparagus! These will give your pizza a more diverse taste with healthy benefits too!
    • If you love amped up the spicy level of this pizza recipe, you may consider swapping chilli sauce with sriracha. Sriracha sauce is made up of jalapeños, garlic, sugar, and vinegar, among other ingredients, so using this sauce instead of chilli sauce will give you a more tangy and sweet flavor you will love in your Kimchi Pizza.

    Serving Suggestions

Serve this Kimchi Pizza with Malfouf salad on the side. Malfouf salad uses a bunch of veggies instead of carbs and would effortlessly complement the taste of the pizza. Coleslaw would also make a perfect side dish for your pizza as it is light and fresh in taste.

    Recipe FAQs

What is the best kimchi to use in this recipe?

For less complications, use baechu kimchi. It is the most common kimchi, and the most available as well. It is made with salted and rinsed cabbages coated in hot red pepper flakes, onion, garlic, ginger, and optional fish sauce.

Can I use other types of cheese aside from mozzarella?

With its mild flavor and gooey texture, provolone is the ideal option when it comes to melted cheeses aside from mozzarella cheese. The pizza will have a stronger flavor as a result of the addition of this ingredient, and the pizza will also taste a little sweeter.
