Ingredients
Note: This is an overview of the ingredients. See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Pizza Dough (Homemade or Store-Bought). I used store-bought pizza dough. However, if you would like to make it from scratch, check out my homemade pizza dough recipe.
Chicken Breasts. Of course, chicken has to be present in a chicken pizza. This recipe asks for pre-cooked chicken. Any boneless and skinless chicken breasts work.
Sweet & Sour BBQ Sauce. Sweet & Sour BBQ Sauces of different brands taste different. Some are tartier while others are sweeter. You will have to experiment with different brands to see what flavor suits you.
Mozzarella Cheese. What is pizza without cheese? Add shredded mozzarella cheese for the gooey, cheesy explosion in your mouth.
Red Onion. Red Onions will add a sharp and spicy taste to the pizza.
Pineapple. No matter how infamous the practice of putting pineapple on pizza is, one can't deny that the juicy sweetness of baked pineapple goes well with the flavor of sweet and sour BBQ sauce and chicken.
Spring Onions. To sprinkle on top.
How To Make Sweet And Sour Chicken Pizza?
One: Grill the chicken and season as you like. Preheat the oven to 200C / 360F.
Tip: Sprinkle salt and pepper on the chicken to flavor.
Two: Place the pizza dough on a 26cm lightly greased baking pan or pizza tray.
Three: Spread with two tablespoons of the BBQ sauce and top with cheese, chicken, onion, and pineapple.
Four: Bake for 10-15 minutes or until cooked through.
Five: Sprinkle the spring onions on top and drizzle with the remaining sauce. Serve immediately.
Top Tips!
- If the flavor of the Sweet & Sour BBQ Sauce does not feel right, you can mix in ketchup and soy sauce to increase the sweetness and sourness, respectively, according to taste.
- I prefer using fresh pineapple. However, you may use canned pineapple if it is canned in 100% juice. Avoid sugary syrup.
- Remember to cook the chicken before you put it on the pizza. However, take care that you do not cook it completely because it will continue cooking when the pizza is being baked.
- You can use any leftovers grilled chicken you have in the fridge.
Some Variations
- Mix multiple varieties of cheese for variation in flavour.
- You can add toppings like roasted bell pepper, corn, zucchini, etc., on your pizza if you prefer loaded pizzas.
- You may brush the top of the pizza base with olive oil and garlic. This will significantly improve its flavour.
Serving Suggestions
Obviously, pizzas taste the best when served fresh out of the oven. Serve alongside pasta or garlic bread and enjoy the traditional pizzeria meal.
The pizza can also be consumed with Rocket Salad serving as sides.
I serve this chicken pizza well with Belgian Fries or Easy Pizza Fries.
Recipe FAQs
Place the leftover pizza on a plate and then wrap it in parchment paper before storing it in the fridge. It will keep for one to five days. However, refrigerating and reheating the pizza will end up spoiling the texture of your pizza.
Yes, you may go with meats like beef or turkey instead of chicken. Basically, any meat that works for barbeque will work for this pizza.
You can do either of them. In this recipe, we have used grilled chicken that has been seasoned well. However, if you want your chicken to have a milder taste, you can even boil it.

Looks yummy, do i have to grill the chicken? can i just boil them?
Radwa
I think it is better to grill the chicken, boiling it may cause the pizza crust to become soggy.
