    Expert tips

    • Cover the filo sheets with a clean kitchen towel while working with them because they tend to dry very quickly. Don't use a wet towel to cover them, it will make the filo sheets wet and soggy; only use a clean, dry towel.
    • Use good quality cheese and grate your own cheddar cheese to have a better flavour.
    • Use eggs at room temperature, it will help the eggs to mix evenly with other ingredients.

Can I use skimmed milk instead of whole milk?

Yes, you can use skimmed milk, you can even use half cup milk (whole or skimmed) and a half cup of plain Greek yoghurt. You will get the same result.

Can I skip adding black seeds (Nigella sativa)?

Actually, I strongly recommend adding them. Black seeds (Nigella sativa) not only give this recipe a delicious flavour and lovely smell, but they are also super healthy. However, omitting them won't affect the final result of this delicious pie.

What are Nigella sativa seeds or black seeds?

Nigella sativa seeds is a plant that has plenty of health benefits such as helping lower cholesterol and balance insulin levels. They also help in treating a cough or the flu.

This pie is my best savoury dish to serve at lunch and sometimes dinner with salad or chicken. So delicious! My mother used to make this when I was a child. When I saw this recipe, I baked it, and it was so good.
