Medjool date shake is the perfect drink when I want something simple, refreshing and DELICIOUS. I make it for a quick breakfast, snack, or dessert.
I blend Medjool dates with cold milk, vanilla ice cream, peanut Butter, and a touch of cinnamon to create a DELICIOUS, naturally sweet shake.
Date Shake Recipe
Do you know that Date Shake is a famous Palm Springs, California beverage? The classic recipe calls for walnuts; however, I prefer peanut butter.
Date Shake is my favorite drink in the morning since having a glass will keep me full for at least until lunchtime. But, also, sometimes I drink it during midday as a snack or dessert.
I love this shake because it is easy to make, and it is sugar-free.
Let's talk about the texture and taste of this shake:
Taste: Sweet with a with hints of caramel and vanilla undertone.
Texture: It has a thick, rich, and creamy texture of the shake came from the smooth blended ice cream combined with the ingredients.
You'll Need
Let’s take a look at the ingredients you should have to make a date shake:
Medjool Dates: Medjool dates have a rich and soft, chewy texture and taste like caramel, not too sweet but not too mild either, excellent for the shake.
Milk: I prefer whole milk since it is creamier and a little thicker.
Peanut Butter: It goes well with the rest of the ingredients.
Vanilla Ice Cream: The vanilla flavor of the ice cream is mild and won't overwhelm the natural flavor of Medjool dates, making the perfect combo. The ice cream will also give the shake a thicker texture, so adding it is a must.
Ground Cinnamon: It adds sweet and woody flavor.
Salt: You may skip adding it to the shake, but if you prefer to boost or enhance the flavor.
Ice Cubes: To keep the heat at bay, you need ice to battle it. Add a couple of ice cubes to perfect the refreshing shake.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to soak the Medjool date?
It is not required if you have a powerful food processor or blender. If not, softening the Medjool date will ensure a smoother texture of the shake without the existence of bumps. For a better texture, it is good to soak the dates for a couple of minutes before putting them in the blender.
Also, If you use hard dates to make this shake, I recommend soaking them in warm water for at least 30 minutes to soften them.
Can I add Medjool dates chunks to the shake?
Medjool dates are soft and chewable. They have a good caramel taste that has a hint of sweetness. Hence, it is no problem if you want to add pieces of Medjool dates to the shake. Children love to chew while drinking the shake anyway, so adding some solid Medjool dates would be ideal for this Date Shake recipe.
