    This Greek style way of cooking green beans in tomato sauce is more delicious than the ordinary boiling way. Tomato sauce makes the green beans so tasty.

    The origin of this recipe is Greece, and I have learned it from my mother. Since then, I have always cooked green beans this way.

    This dish is a classic vegetarian side dish if you served it alone, and if you serve it with precooked chicken or beef, it would be a whole meal.

    Ingredients for cooking green beans in tomato sauce:

    • Fresh green beans
    • Tomato sauce
    • Onion minced
    • Garlic minced
    • Salt
    • Black pepper
    • Water
    • Olive oil

    How to make green beans in tomato sauce?

    How to make the recipe
    • In a small pot put the onion, garlic and some olive oil.
    • Then, stir over medium heat till the onion tender.
    • Cut the green beans into small pieces.
    • After that, add the green beans and the tomato sauce and stir.
    • Then, add the spices and water, stir.
    • After that, cover the pot and leave it to simmer until cooked.

    The secret here is not letting the beans having too much or too fewer sauce.

    How to serve the green beans?

    Serve them with tortilla or just plain. Also, you can serve them with cooked chicken breast, thigh or even with some minced beef. Furthermore, if you are not following any low carb diet, you can serve them with rice.

    Store it in an airtight container; leaving it to the next day makes them much more delicious as the green beans stay longer time in the sauce.

    • 75 g tomato sauce
    • 1 medium onion minced
    • 2 garlic
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • ½ cup water
    • 2 tablespoon olive oil
