I absolutely love the delightful flavor and the excellent soft and creamy texture of this ice cream.
Another reason for me to love this ice cream is that it is so easy to make since I no longer have to worry about churning it.
I usually double the recipe because my daughter is obsessed with this ice cream, and it stores well in the freezer, so there is no problem.
I like to serve this homemade no-churn ice cream for dessert after an intricate meal with my family to treat them with a nicely done sweet dessert.
What Does Red Bean Ice Cream Taste Like?
Azuki beans have a mild nutty flavor with a hint of sweetness, making them perfect to add to desserts.
If you have been to Japan or are fond of watching Japanese TV shows or movies, you would recognize adzuki beans as a popular main flavor for their sweets and treats because of their confectionary-like taste.

Adzuki Red Bean Ice Cream Ingredients
Adzuki Beans. You can make the red bean paste from scratch if you want; however, in this recipe, I used canned Adzuki red beans. They are sweet, and when made into a paste, are perfect as the base flavor for this ice cream recipe.
White Sugar. Aside from adding more sweetness to the adzuki beans, white sugar also helps the texture of the ice cream remain soft even after being frozen.
Whipping Cream. For me, ice cream is not an ice cream if it is not smooth and creamy. Thus, I make sure to use whipping cream!
Vanilla. I like to add vanilla to flavor my ice cream.
Sweetened Condensed Milk. It is another sweetener that helps soften the ice cream, making it easier to scoop when serving.

How to Make Adzuki Red Bean Ice Cream?
Prepare The Red Bean Paste
One: Strain the beans and use a potato masher to light smash them.
Two: Add the mashed beans and sugar into a saucepan over medium heat.

Three: Pour the ice cream into an airtight container and freeze for at least 3 hours.
Expert Tips!
- Don't hesitate to double the recipe to serve more of this delicious ice cream!
- Whisking whipping cream can be fun sometimes, but over-whisking it will ruin its texture as the cream will begin separating and curdling. The secret to the perfect creamy and soft homemade ice cream is whisking your whip cream just enough to form a stiff peak.
Serving Suggestions
I like to have this Red Bean Ice Cream as it is with no other side dishes whatsoever because it already tastes heavenly as a stand-alone treat.
However, if you want to put more twist on this recipe, top it on your Orange Pancakes, Oat Milk Pancakes or Strawberry Banana French Toast!
You can also be more creative by topping your homemade cookies or cupcakes with this ice cream such as Carrot Cake Cupcakes, Fork Biscuits or Peach Cupcakes.
Storage
I keep my ice cream in an airtight container before storing it in the freezer. It can last up to three months.
Tip: If the ice cream has been stored in the freezer for quite some time, let it thaw for a few minutes just until it retains the creamy texture instead of being hard and almost blocky.
