The Best Honeycomb Ice Cream Recipe

This recipe for Honeycomb Ice Cream is extremely decadent, smooth, and creamy all at the same time. It is one of the best ice creams that you will ever get the opportunity to try, and it is created with only five ingredients.

Prepare yourself for this one if you have a passion for ice cream. This recipe does not require the use of an ice cream maker; rather, the whole bunch just needs to be placed in the freezer.

You will be good to go with just a bowl, anything that can be used to stir, and a container. If you have those three things, then all are set for the making of this recipe.

    What Is A Honeycomb?

It is light, airy, crunchy and sweet; it is usually made with sugar, corn syrup or golden syrup, water and baking soda. It has a beautiful golden brown color, and it tastes like toffee or caramel candy. People usually serve it as it is as candy, cover it with chocolate or add it to baking and desserts.

It is easy to make at home; however, this recipe uses store-bought honeycomb chunks.

No-Churn Method Of Making Ice Cream

The use of an ice cream maker is not necessary to prepare no-churn ice cream, instead, you will just have to stir and combine the ingredients with the use of your hand.

No-churn ice cream is a wonderful alternative for people who do not have room or money for an ice cream machine but still like to make their homemade ice cream. Ice cream makers can be quite cumbersome and require a significant amount of storage area.

    Why Does This Recipe Work?

Ice creams are without a doubt one of the favorite desserts among children and adults, especially when the summer season comes.

This recipe will give you the chance to satisfy your craving for cold and creamy desserts without having to go out under the searing hot sun. Here are some of the reasons why you need to try making this ice cream recipe at home:

    • This recipe is so easy and simple to make, not to mention that it is a no-churn ice cream recipe, which will definitely save you time and effort in figuring out how to use a machine that can perfectly churn your ice cream.
    • Quick recipe with easy and detailed instructions to follow.
    • It is soft, creamy, and smooth, with a hint of a little bit of crunch. Above all, it is scoopable into cute and tiny cups or colorful ice cream cones.
    • Among the good qualities of this ice cream recipe, it is also worth noting that it has no added preservatives or additives. Enjoy well-made ice cream with this recipe!
    • You can easily alter or change the flavors found in this recipe.

    What's in This Recipe?

Heavy Cream (double cream). With heavy cream in our ice cream recipe, a smooth and creamy texture will be ensured.

Sweetened Condensed Milk. Add a sweeter taste and creamier texture with the addition of condensed milk in the recipe.

Vanilla Bean Paste. It enhances all the flavors found in this recipe; thus it is worth adding to make sure you will only serve the best and most flavorful ice cream.

Maple syrup: Just a small amount to enhance the flavor.

Honeycomb. Make sure that you are using a crushed honeycomb for this recipe. Honeycomb makes your ice cream deliciously sweet and crunchy.

White Chocolate Chips. Of course, you cannot forget some good chocolate for this recipe! Add in the mixture of white chocolate chips!

How to Make Easy Honeycomb Ice Cream?

Steps of making the recipe by photos.

One: In a medium bowl, whisk the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Two: Stir in condensed milk and vanilla bean paste until combined.

Three: Fold in the honeycomb and chocolate chips into the cream mixture.

Four: Transfer the mixture into a container, cover it well and freeze for 3-4 hours.

    Top Tips!

    • For this no-churn ice cream, you may either make use of a portable electric whisk or a standing mixer that comes equipped with a whisk attachment to completely stir the ingredients.
    • Make sure the heavy cream is cold, and don't overbeat it! Otherwise, it will have a grainy texture, not silky and smooth.
    • When adding the honeycomb pieces that have been crushed and the white chocolate chips, take caution not to overwork the mixture and beat the air out of it. Fold together well using a metal spoon or spatula.

    Some Variations

    • If you want a complete chocolate honeycomb ice cream, you may add cocoa powder to the mixture to make it appear chocolate in color, and then swap the white chocolate chips for dark chocolate chips.
    • Top your ice cream with maraschino cherries. It is sweet and has a sundae vibe to it, not to mention it makes the ice cream look classic with its ruby-red hue.
    • You may use vanilla extract or almond extract instead of vanilla bean paste.
    • If you have a sweet tooth you may add ¼ cup of cane sugar or brown sugar.
    • Add a pinch of sea salt.
A spoonful of honeycomb ice cream topped with honeycomb chips.

    Serving Suggestions

For a casual ice cream craving, you may serve this ice cream in a waffle cone along with a few pieces of chocolates of your choice.

For a more summery vibe, you can serve this ice cream in between two pieces of Biscoff Biscuits, creating a flavorful ice cream sandwich. You may also just serve this ice cream in a small bowl, and then drip it with hot fudge. Brownies also make a wonderful side dish for this recipe!

    Storage

Store: You have to always freeze this recipe if you are not planning to serve it already because it will surely melt even at room temperature. Store the ice cream in a freezer-safe container or a loaf tin, and freeze it for up to 3 months.

Make-ahead of Time: You may make this ice cream recipe days or even weeks before you plan to serve it. The longer it stays in the freezer, the more it becomes flavorful.

    Recipe FAQs

Why is my ice cream hard instead of smooth and creamy?

If you do not whisk the ice cream for a sufficient amount of time or at a rapid enough pace, you will likely end up with a solid block of ice cream. When whipped at a quicker speed, more air is included in the mixture, which results in the mixture becoming lighter in weight and smoother in consistency.

Is homemade ice cream better than store-bought?

Homemade ice cream tastes way better than store-bought, which is full of preservatives. You also have full control over the ingredients and also use high-quality ingredients when making your own ice cream.
