This shrimp salad sandwich combines many delightful ingredients that enhance its light, delicious and creamy flavor, perfect for a summery lunch out.
Shrimp Salad Sandwich
This sandwich is suitable for almost any meal of the day; I like pairing it with orange juice for lunch or simply some Belgian fries for light dinner.
It has a velvety and buttery texture from the mixture of shrimp, mayonnaise, and butter. I also added lemon juice, parsley, and seasonings like paprika and ground pepper which to this sandwich to add flavors.
Let's prepare this sandwich like a pro.
Ingredients of The Recipe
Shrimp: When choosing a shrimp, it is best to use shrimps already deveined and peeled. The size of the shrimp also depends on one's likings, but I highly recommend buying medium size shrimps since it will suit the sandwich well.
Butter: I use unsalted butter to cook the shrimp.
Seasonings: I use paprika, salt, and ground black pepper.
Lemon Juice: It gives a fresh and clean taste to the whole dish.
Mayonnaise and Greek Yogurt: Both provide a rich and creamy texture.
Green Onions: It adds a crunchy texture to the salad.
Chopped Pickles: Pickles have salty and sour tastes that will surely complement the other flavor in the salad.
Parsley
Bell Pepper
Hot Dog Buns: You may use any bread you prefer to make the sandwich.
How to Make Shrimp Salad Sandwich?
One: Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Two: Place the shrimp and cook for 2 minutes or until it is not translucent (don't overcook).
Three: Transfer the shrimp into a mixing bowl, let it cool down for 10 minutes, then add paprika, salt, ground black pepper, chopped pickles, green onion, parsley, bell pepper, lemon juice, mayonnaise and greek yoghurt.
Four: Mix well until combined. Then, scoop the mixture into the hot dog buns, sprinkle some paprika on top and serve.
Tip: Let the salad cool down for 10 minutes before putting them into the hot dog buns. It will allow the flavor to sip in.
Top Tips for A Better Sandwich Experience!
- If you don't like soft bread, you can splatter the hot dog buns with butter and toast them in medium-low heat.
- Don't overcook the shrimps lest they become too dry for the sandwich.
- If you have a soft spot for spicy food, adding diced red onion will give the salad a spicy tint. You may also add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
What Shrimp Is The Best For The Shrimp Salad Sandwich?
It is best to buy the frozen shrimp from the market with its shells and dark dorsal veins removed. Such a type of shrimp will save you time from deveining it, and it also offers a good quality when you combine it with the other ingredients.
Frozen shrimp allows you to keep leftovers in the freezer as well in case you fancy cooking another batch of salad.
