    This super easy almond flour chocolate mug cake is keto-friendly, sugar-free and gluten-free single-serve dessert or snack. It takes 90 seconds in the microwave!

    Almond Flour Chocolate Mug Cake Recipe

    I am really impressed with the texture and taste of this mug cake; it has a soft and fluffy texture and perfect sweetness.

    I actually like to keep it as simple as possible, so I topped it only with some extra chocolate chips and it was AMAZING!

    I enjoy this gluten free chocolate mug cake every other day as a delicious snack or a sweet treat.

    Ingredients

    • Almond flour: NOT almond meal. It is my favorit substitute for regular flour.
    • Egg: I used just one large egg at room temperature.
    • Coconut flour: Gluten free flour.
    • Cocoa powder: I prefer to use unsweetened cocoa powder.
    • Butter: I used unsalted butter.
    • Baking powder: Important to make the mug cake fluffy.
    • Vanilla extract: For flavor.
    • Powdered Erythritol: You can use Monk fruit instead.
    • Water: You can use almond milk or coconut milk.
    • Dark chocolate chips: I used sugar free dark chocolate chips.

    Variations & Substitutions

    • You may use vegetable oil or coconut oil instead of melted butter.
    • For extra chocolate flavor, top your chocolate keto mug cake with sugar free chocolate chips.
    • Add some nuts, such as pecan or slices of almond.
    • Top your keto microwave cake with whipped cream, some chopped roasted hazelnuts or cream cheese frosting.
    • Top it with a spoonful of low carb sugar-free raspberry jam.
    • Add some chopped fruits such as strawberries, blueberries or raspberries to the cake batter.

    How To Make Keto Almond Flour Chocolate Mug Cake?

    One: Crack the egg in a large microwave-safe mug, whisk (photo 1).

    Pro Tip: Whisk the eggs until light and fluffy to get a fluffy mug cake.

    Pro Tip: Use a large microwave-safe mug, and don't overfill it with batter. If there isn't enough space for the batter to rise as cooking, it will overflow and make a mess in your microwave. 

    Two: After that, add the butter and whisk (photo 2).

    Three: Add powdered Erythritol and vanilla extract and whisk again (photo 3).

    Four: Stir in almond flour, baking powder, unsweetened cocoa powder and coconut flour (photo 4).

    Five: Stir in the water until combined, then fold in the unsweetened dark chocolate chips (photo 5).

    Six: Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top (optional). Microwave for 90 seconds (photo 6).

    Pro Tip: I tested this mug cake with an 800-watt microwave for 90 seconds. I recommend you check your microwave setting!

    • Don't overbake the cake; otherwise, it will turn out dry.
    • Use ingredients at room temperature, which allows all the ingredients to combine well.

    Personally, I like to serve this mug cake with Vanilla Protein Ice Cream, Keto 3 ingredients Chocolate Ice Cream, Keto Avocado Ice Cream or fresh fruit.

    Ingredients

    • ¼ cup Almond flour
    • 1 ½ tablespoon Coconut flour
    • 1 Egg
    • 2 teaspoon Unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon Butter , melted
    • ½ teaspoon Baking powder
    • ¼ teaspoon Vanilla extract
    • 1 tablespoon Powdered Erythritol
    • 3 tablespoon Water
    • 3 tablespoon Unsweetened dark chocolate chips

    Instructions
