Mexican Shrimp Tacos Ingredients
For the sour cream cilantro sauce
- Spring onion: Also called green onion.
- Cilantro: Use fresh cilantro.
- Salt: A little goes a long way.
- Lemon juice: You can replace it with fresh lime juice.
- Garlic: For extra flavor.
- Olive oil: Use extra virgin olive oil; you can also use avocado oil instead.
- Sour cream: To give the sauce a creamy and delicious taste.
Shrimp
- Butter: To cook the shrimps.
- Chilli powder: To give some heat to your shrimps. You can add also a pinch of cayenne pepper to make an extra spicy shrimp tacos.
- Paprika, garlic powder, cumin and onion powder: To season the shrimps.
- Shrimp: Also called Prawn. This recipe uses fresh shrimp (prawn).
For the taco fillings
- Taco shells: You can replace taco shells with either corn tortillas or flour tortillas.
- Green cabbage: Shredded cabbage will and some crunchiness to your tasty tacos.
- Red cabbage: For extra colors.
- Avocado: Cut it into small pieces.
- Feta cheese: Feta cheese on shrimp tacos is so delicious. You may use cotija cheese instead.
How to make these Easy Mexican Shrimp Tacos?
Step one - Make the cilantro sour cream sauce
Put all the taco sauce ingredients in the food processor and mix until a smooth mixture forms. Transfer to a small mixing bowl and set aside.
Step Two - Cooke the shrimp
Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel, transfer to a medium bowl and then mix it with chilli powder, ground cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika. Make sure the shrimp are coated well with the spices.
Next, heat some butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer to the hot skillet and cook for 3 minutes on each side then turn off the heat.
Step Three - Prepare the fillings
Shred green and purple cabbage, dice the avocado, and crumble the feta cheese.
Step Four- Assemble Tacos
Go in this order. In each taco shell add: some green cabbage, purple cabbage, one tablespoon of the taco sauce, shrimps, some chopped avocado, and then sprinkle some feta crumbles. Add more sauce if you like.
