Learn how to make Egyptian Tahini sauce; it is a super easy, simple dressing or sauce made by mixing tahini paste with lemon, garlic and olive oil to make this popular Middle Eastern dressing.
What Is Tahini?
Tahini is a rich, creamy paste with a slightly bitter earthy flavor. It is widely used in the Middle Eastern country in so many dishes. Basically, tahini is toasted sesame seeds grinded until becoming a paste. It is exactly like any other seed butter that can be spread on a loaf of bread.
This garlic tahini sauce can be used as a topping in sandwiches, salad dressing and more. I used tahini in Authentic Baba Ganoush Recipe and Mutabal.
What to Use Tahini Sauce for?
There are so many ways of using tahini dressing; I like to serve it with Lebanese Falafel, salad and roasted veggies such as Roasted Green Beans and Carrots, and it is super delicious over an Egyptian Kofta or Kebab (grilled meat) or shawarma.
You can even use it as a dip, and you will be surprised to know that making a tahini dipping sauce is so easy it only takes a couple of minutes.
When I need a sauce for Falafel, I quickly think of tahini sauce they go so well with each other. Today I will share with you my go-to tahini sauce recipe, which I love so much.

How To Make Egyptian Tahini Sauce
To make this tahini sauce recipe, follow these easy step-by-step instructions:
One: In a mixing bowl, mix tahini paste and water using a fork or whisk until well combined ( tahini is a dense paste using water is important to lighten the tahini).
Two: Add the minced garlic, olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice, salt, pepper and cumin, mix well.

Top Tips!
- Tahini brands vary in consistency; for diluting it, you may need more ¼ cup of water based on the consistency you want.
- When you add water to the tahini, you need to whisk vigorously to combine them well.
- Tahini will thicken as it sets in the fridge; if you want to thin it out a little, mix in some water.
- Add the water slowly because if you add too much water, the sauce will come out runny.
Serve It With
- I like to use it as a dipping for Crispy Chicken Patties or Beef Rissoles.
- As a topping for salads, such as Rocket Salad or Italian Shrimp Pasta Salad.
- Eat it with Gyro Bread (Greek Pita Bread).
