    Published: Jun 2, 2022 by Radwa ·

I love spicy food, and today I will share with you one of my favorite recipes: spicy shrimp in tomato sauce. A tender shrimp cooked in spicy, garlicky tomato sauce. Ready in less than 10 minutes!

This dish goes well with almost any side. I like to serve it with Cajun Rice Dressing or Veggie Egg Fried Rice.

    Ingredients

First, before we jump to the recipe, let me tell you what ingredients we will use.

    • Shrimp: I used fresh shrimp.
    • Tomato sauce: Use good quality tomato sauce.
    • Sweet and Chilli sauce: Any kind you have at home.
    • Garlic: Fresh!
    • Salt: To taste.
    • Red pepper flakes: If it is not available, use chili powder instead.
    • Chinese 5 spices: My secret ingredient.
    • Sesame oil: To give the dish a nutty flavor.

“See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.”

How To Make Spicy Shrimp In Tomato Sauce

Add the shrimp, tomato sauce, sweet and chilli sauce, red pepper flakes, Chinese 5 spices and salt.

One: Heat the sesame oil over medium heat in a pan, add the minced garlic and saute for 30 seconds.

Two: Add the shrimp, tomato sauce, sweet and chilli sauce, red pepper flakes, Chinese 5 spices and salt.

Three: Cook for 4-5 minutes over medium heat, until the shrimp turn into red.

    Four: Serve and enjoy!

    Top Tips!

    • Don't skip the Chinese 5 spice; it gives a fantastic taste to the shrimp.
    • If you don't like spicy food, just skip the red pepper flakes.
    • Love it cheesy; just top it with shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese and put it in the microwave for 30 seconds or until the cheese melts.
    • You may add some veggies to this dish, such as spring onion, baby corn, bell pepper and spinach.
    • You can also replace olive oil with butter if you like.

You can serve it as a stand-alone dish with Angel Hair Pasta, 4 Cheese Mac And Cheese or Fish Rice.

Also, you can serve this dish with Turmeric Rice or No-Noodle Eggplant Lasagna.

    Storage

To store: Store leftovers in the fridge for 2-3 days.

Freezing: this dish can be frozen for 1-2 months, no problem.

To reheat: Allow it to defrost to the room temperature, then reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave.
